POEM
Days spin around the globe like butter in the churn,
for 6,935 you’ve captivated me and made my mind turn.
Children with children when we started down this path,
So many people convinced our bond would not, could not, last.
Trauma bonded on things out of our control,
that tested ever fiber of our souls.
Doubts creep in at the worst times, pushing us to ponder
if something else would ever bring us as much joy and wonder.
We push each other up and reach for the skies and try
to push the other down, but we have, we can’t deny.
Working through the downs, opening up and sharing the pain
makes the ups reach heights that our love remains
a story that should be told in movies and songs and stories.
Nineteen years and still it never gets boring.
