CAPTION 3
Why did we e ver make this comic?
CAPTION
Are you talking about this comic people are reading right now?
CAPTION
Or the one in the center of the strip?
CAPTION 3
Both, but specifically the one in the center here.
CAPTION
Well you see, our Grandpa Lefty was a fan of whittling and we would just sit outside with him and whittle all the time.
CAPTION 2
Wait, what the hell is whittling?
CAPTION
Whittling is a quiet conversation between blade and wood. Used to reveal the hidden mysteries beneath the surface of the wood with each careful stroke. It’s the slow art of transforming stillness into creation.
CAPTION 3
Oh, ok, pretentious bastard. You could have just said “Carving wood”
CAPTION
Yeah, but that’s boring.
CAPTION 3
You’re boring.
CAPTION 3
What about this Clay J guy? Where’d he come from?
CAPTION
We took a pottery class back in 2004 and we did characters. So we made one out of JN from y2cl, but turned him into Clay J.
CAPTION 2
Uh, guys.
CAPTION
So being the creative genius we are, we decided to use both of them in a comic with a painting we got from a thrift store.
CAPTION 2
Hey, guys! We already went over this a few weeks ago.
CAPTION 2
And I thought this was supposed to be more commentary on the strip and not the creation of the characters?
CAPTION
Oh, well, uhh, for the strip we took a bunch of photos then made a story about how Clay J fell apart cause he’s made of clay.
CAPTION
And how wood is better.
CAPTION 3
And our letter is fucking terrible.
CAPTION
Hey now, we were still learning!
