I painted this back in 2003 in response to a conversation with a friend about living in a fire but seeing the beauty outside you can't get to. It's more about mental struggle of being stuck in your head, knowing and seeing there's beauty you can see but you can't get yourself to go to it.

You'll notice throughout this series there will be "guest artists" show up.
What happens is I have someone draw 'something' then I make it a monster. This time, the amazing Kaylie (co-creator of Jonly Nonly)("http://jonlynonly.com/") gave me this. So I hid a pig monster behind the tree.
